Winnipesaukee 2-Day - August 11-12, 2007

From left: Cory Nearing (2nd and lunker LM), Scott Coleman (1st), Garry Woodruff (lunker SM)

We held 2007 season 2-day tournament on Lake Winnipesaukee on Saturday and Sunday August 11 and 12, 2007. We had 4 come up and fish with us on a hot sunny weekend with just a little wind to help out things but not enough to discourage all of the other boaters on the lake.

Congratulations goes to D5 member Scott Coleman for winning with a 2 day total of 9 fish (4LM, 5SM) weighing in at 18.62 pounds. Cory Nearing ended up second with 10 fish (2LM, 8SM)  with 16.08 pounds. Third was Tom Sardhina with 8 fish (4LM, 4SM) at 12.09 pounds. And day one leader slipping to fourth by zeroing on day 2 was Garry Woodruff with 5 smallmouth at 10.33 pounds.

Lunker smallmouth and big fish was a 3.21 pounder caught by Garry Woodruff.  Lunker largemouth of 2.49 pounds was caught by Cory Nearing. Cory also won the first loser pool.

With his second place finish, Cory Nearing won another D2 Angler of the Year title.

Winner Scott Coleman watches as his fish are being tagged by NH Fish and Game

NH Fish and Game was there at weigh-in to tag the fish before we released them out at the black markers. It was interesting to see the process in action after hearing so much about it in presentations and e-mails. Nobody in our group caught any tagged fish.

A tagged fish is being placed in the holding tank ready to be released back into the lake

Thanks to everyone that came up, fished, and helped out to make things run well for the day. We're looking forward to bigger turnouts for the 2008 season.

Northwood - August 4, 2007

From left: Chris Perry(2nd), Dave Marchant (1st and lunker LM), Cory Nearing (lunker SM)

We held our last 2007 season 1-day tournament on Northwood Lake on Saturday August 4, 2007. We had 6 come up and fish with us on a hot sunny day with a little wind to help out things.

New ABA D2 member Dave Marchant won his first D2 tournament with a mixed bag (4LM, 1SM) with 9.67 pounds. Chris Perry ended up second with mixed bag (4LM, 1SM)  with 9.50 pounds. Third was Cory Nearing with a mix bag (3LM, 2SM) at 7.39 pounds. In fourth was David Guichard with a mixed bag (2LM, 1SM) at 5.75 pounds. And rounding out the top five was Tom Sardhina with 1 LM and 2 SM at 4.04 pounds.

Lunker largemouth and big fish was a 3.48 pounder caught by Dave Marchant.  Lunker smallmouth of 2.25 pounds was caught by Cory Nearing. Chris Perry won the first loser pool.

Thanks to everyone that came up, fished, and helped out to make things run well for the day. We're looking forward to 2-day tournament on Lake Winnipesaukee.

Bow - Saturday July 28, 2007

From left: Don Conrad (2nd), Cory Nearing(1st and lunker LM), Garry Woodruff (lunker SM)

It was one of those days when you should have been there to fish and see weigh-in. We held our tournament at Bow Lake on Saturday July 28, 2007. We had 5 come up and fish with us on a cool partly rainy day with a few thunderstorms thrown in, which fortunately kept a lot of boat traffic down. Everyone caught quality fish. 23 fish were weighed in and all were released alive. Total weight was 60.81 pounds with 4 five fish limits coming in. Given there were only five of us, that averages 12 pounds per angler. Too bad other didn't show as the fishing was great all day.

Cory Nearing established a new division record for a 1-day total!

Long time ABA D2 member Cory Nearing won his second D2 tournament of the year with all largemouth with 17.97 pounds. (YES, 17.97 pounds, a D2 record) Don Conrad ended up second with all largemouth with 13.73 pounds. Third was Tom Sardhina with a mix bag (4LM, 1SM) at 12.43 pounds. In fourth was Garry Woodruff with a mixed bag (1 LM, 4SM) at 9.06 pounds. And rounding out the top five was David Guichard with 2 LM and 1 SM at 7.57 pounds.

Lunker largemouth and big fish was a 4.43 pounder caught by Cory Nearing.  Lunker smallmouth of 2.25 pounds was caught by Garry Woodruff. Don Conrad won the first loser pool.

Thanks to everyone that came up, fished, and helped out to make things run well for the day. Despite the no-shows and poor attendance, everyone had a great day on the water and caught some really quality fish. We're looking forward to the next tournament on Northwood Lake.

Squam - Sunday July 15, 2007

From left: Scott Coleman (3rd), Cory Nearing(1st), Chris Martin (2nd)

We held our second 5 fish tournament at Squam Lake on Sunday July 15, 2007. We had 11 come up and fish with us on a cool partly rainy day which fortunately kept a lot of boat traffic down. Everyone caught at least one fish. Like Ossipee, 50 fish were weighed in and all were released alive. Total weight was 100.05 pounds with 8 five fish limits coming in.

Long time ABA D2 member Cory Nearing won his first D2 tournament of the year with a mixed bag (3LM, 2SM) with 13.10 pounds. In fourth was Don Mayer with a mixed bag (3 LM, 2SM) at 11.02 pounds. And rounding out the top five was Craig Richardson with 4 LM and 1 SM at 10.30 pounds.

Lunker largemouth and big fish was a 4.34 pounder caught by Matt Martin.  Lunker smallmouth of 2.94 pounds was caught by Matt's brother Chris. Scott Coleman won the first loser pool.

Thanks to everyone that came up, fished, and helped out to make things run well for the day. Despite the no-shows, everyone had a great day on the water and we're looking forward to the next tournament on Bow Lake.

Ossipee - Sunday July 1, 2007

From left: Bill Barrett (3rd), Don Conrad (1st), Don Mayer (2nd) (No, Don isn't that short, they were standing on a slope).

We held out first 5 fish tournament at Lake Ossipee on Sunday July 1, 2007. We had 12 come up and fish with us on a cool windy day which fortunately kept a lot of boat traffic down. Everyone caught at least one fish. 50 fish were weighed in with 49 released alive. Total weight was 88.26 pounds with 8 five fish limits coming in.

Don Conrad won with a mixed bag (4LM, 1SM) with 12.32 pounds. Don Mayer ended up second with another mixed bag (3LM, 2SM) with 10.45 pounds. Third was Bill Barrett with 5 LM at 9.74 pounds. In fourth was Bill Flanders with 5 LM at 9.27 pounds. And rounding out the top five was Garry Woodruff with 5 LM at 7.90 pounds.

Lunker largemouth and big fish was a 4.11 pounder caught by Don Conrad. Lunker smallmouth of 2.03 pounds was caught by Don Mayer. Bill Barrett won the first loser pool.

We signed up one member - William Flanders. And had some renewals as well. And we had several fishing with us for the first time.

Thanks to everyone that came up, fished, and helped out to make things run well for the day. It was also good to see Scott Leavitt fish all day given the back problems that he had from last year's 2-day.

Moore Reservoir - May 12 and May 13 (Two 1-days)

We held our first 2007 tournaments at Moore Reservoir on May 12 and 13. Congratulations to Triton Gold member Mike Drew on winning both days at Moore Reservoir. We were greeted to the usual early spring drawdown of the reservoir. The weather, though a little chilly in the mornings, cooperated very well for the weekend. There were 5 of us on Saturday and 4 on Sunday (Cory wasn't able to attend Sunday). We had a 2 fish limit for the tournaments. For both days, all fish were released alive back into the reservoir. And there were only smallmouth weighed in this year. (Tom had a largemouth but he tossed it back.)

On Saturday, Mike Drew brought in 2 smallmouth with a winning weight of 5.36 pounds. Tom Sardinha was second with 4.80 pounds. Mike had lunker smallie with a nice 3.29 pounder. And Tom got the first loser pool.

On Sunday, Mike won again with 2 more smallmouth weighing in at 5.00 pounds. Dave Guichard came in second with 3.01 pounds. Mike got lunker with a 2.92 smallmouth. And Dave got the first loser pool.

Thanks to everyone that came up and fished. And sorry, no pictures this time as I had my camera in movie mode and they didn't come out too well.

Newfound - Sunday November 5, 2006

After having to reschedule the Newfound tournament due to high winds, the anglers were greeted to calm winds, sunny skies, and a brisk starting temperature of 24 degrees. Fortunately, the winds stayed pretty calm all day and the clouds were only brief, so despite the cold temperatures it was reasonable on the water. Thanks to Tom and Vic for showing up to fish.

Tom Sardinha came in first place with 2 smallmouth for a weight of 6.99 pounds. Tom also lost 3 other keepers near the boat. He also boated 16 trout during the day and wished that this had been a trout tournament. All fish were released back in the lake alive.

Tom also had lunker smallmouth at 3.68 pounds.

Bow - Sunday October 22, 2006

With high winds and a starting temperature of 35, we had 3 anglers brave the weather on Bow Lake. Fortunately, the temperature got up to 50 and the winds subsided during the day. And some nice fish were brought to the scales.

New member, Steve Bosjlie came in first place with 3 largemouth for a weight of 9.32 pounds. Cory Nearing came in second with 2 largemouth and 2 smallmouth weighing in at 8.12 pounds. Unfortunately, longtime ABA member, Tom Sardinha hooked up with a large smallie but it came unbuttoned when it jumped out of the water. All fish were released back in the lake alive.

Steve Bosjlie had lunker largemouth at 3.95 pounds. Cory Nearing had lunker smallmouth at 1.44 pounds. Cory Nearing won the First Loser Pool.

Two new members were signed up at the lake: Vic Carima and Steve Bosjlie.

Pawtuckaway - September 23, 3006

Only David and I showed up for the Pawtuckaway tournament. The low turnout and showers didn't hamper our fun that day. It was nice to be on the lake with so little boat traffic and other angler pressure unlike our August tournament on the lake.

Garry Woodruff came in first place with a mixed bag of 3 largemouth and 2 smallmouth for a weight of 13.04 pounds. David Guichard came in second with 2 smallmouth weighing in at 1.67 pounds. All fish were released back in the lake alive.

Garry Woodruff had lunker largemouth at 5.61 pounds. He also had lunker smallmouth at 1.32 pounds. David Guichard won the First Loser Pool.

Garry also won incentives from Secret Weapon and Airrus Rods. As a member of the Secret Weapon Special Ops program, he won a $50 tackle pack for winning the tournament. And as a member the Airrus A-Team, he won a rod for having the lunker of the month for New Hampshire. You can find out more about the incentive programs by visiting the ABA website.
